3D Gym Layout

A 3D layout turns a floor plan into something you can actually judge. Most people cannot read a 2D drawing and picture the room — they can look at a render and immediately say “that walkway is too tight” or “move the rack to the other wall”. That is the whole point of the stage.

Why it is worth doing

  • 01Catches problems early

Cramped walkways, machines facing a wall, a rack under a low beam — all obvious in a render and all invisible in a spreadsheet.

  • 02Gets decisions made

Owners, facilities managers and building committees approve things they can see. A render ends the debate faster than a plan view.

  • 03Confirms the count

You see exactly how many stations the room takes at proper spacing, rather than trusting a number on a quotation.

  • 04Fixes the order

Once the visual is signed off, the equipment schedule is locked. Fewer changes mid-delivery, fewer surprises on site.

What you receive, and what it is not

Included

The layout package

  • 3D views of the room with equipment in place
  • Plan view with dimensions and walkways marked
  • Zoning — cardio, resistance, free weights, functional
  • Equipment schedule matching the visual, item by item
  • Flooring zones and finish areas indicated
  • Revisions until you approve the floor

Not included

Where you need other trades

  • Structural or load calculations — your engineer
  • MEP, ventilation and electrical design
  • Architectural drawings for permits
  • Interior finishes beyond gym flooring and mirrors
  • Photo-real marketing renders for brochures

We will tell you plainly when something needs a structural engineer or an MEP consultant rather than pretending it is within our scope.

How to read the layout you get

  1. Walk the route in your headStart at the door. Can you reach every station without squeezing past someone mid-set?
  2. Check the busiest cornerFind where three or four machines cluster. That is where crowding will happen at peak, not in the open middle.
  3. Look upConfirm anything overhead — pull-up bars, cable travel, pressing clearance — against the ceiling height marked.
  4. Count the drop zonesIf weights will be dropped, make sure the platforms are where the loading actually happens.
  5. Then look at the equipmentSpecification is the easiest thing to change. Layout is the hard part, so approve that first.

Frequently asked questions

What do you need to produce a 3D layout?

Room dimensions, clear ceiling height, and the positions of doors, windows, columns and beams. Photos of each wall help. If you have a CAD or PDF drawing, send that and we will work from it directly.

How many revisions do I get?

Enough to reach a floor you are happy with — that is the purpose of the stage. Revising a drawing costs a fraction of relocating installed equipment, so we would rather iterate here.

Is the render exactly what the finished gym looks like?

It is accurate on layout, footprints, spacing and equipment models. It is not a photograph — lighting, wall finishes and ceiling details are indicative. Treat it as a spatial tool, not a marketing image.

Can I use it to get approval from my landlord or building committee?

Clients do this regularly, and it is usually the fastest way to get a decision. If the committee needs a specific format or additional detail, tell us before we start and we will confirm what we can provide.

Do I have to buy the equipment from you afterwards?

The layout work is part of how we quote and deliver a project. If you want to discuss it as a standalone piece of work, ask us and we will be straight with you about what that involves before anything starts.
